Labor Day Festivities!

This past Labor Day was our 2nd Annual Labor Day Union Reunion Picnic where members of UAW Local 1853 gathered to celebrate the day for unions!
Members from every corner of our Local brought their families to participate in solidarity, food, drink, a car show, and activities for the kids. UAW Local 1853 would like to thank all our volunteers, face-painters, balloon artists, Family Advantage Federal Credit Union , and Red Wing for coming out to make the celebration that much more special.
Please enjoy some of the photos gathered from today.
“There is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. There is no greater contribution than to help the weak. There is no greater satisfaction than to have done it well.” Walter Reuther, Union Leader, and former International UAW President.
Happy Labor Day from UAW Local 1853! #laborday#wearetheuaw
This past Sunday, all the local unions of Middle Tennessee gathered in Nashville for the 12th Annual Labor Day Parade aka Solidarity Day with the Central Labor Council of Nashville & Middle TN
800+ union brothers and sisters marched down Broadway to spread awareness of the importance of union labors – how unions have set the standard and continue to fight for better wages and benefits. The importance of yesterday’s event is paramount for Middle TN as we continue the upward battle of job change and technological advances.
Given the recent news of the EV sale slump and the challenges our Local now faces over the coming months, yesterday was a nice reminder about how if we stick together, nothing can stand in our way. Director Tim Smith of UAW Region 8 rallied the crowds, tourists, and all union members as we marched. His message was clear about how union labor built this country and will continue to pave the way.
UAW Local 1853 Veterans and Retiree Committees was recognized by the CLC for our contributions over the years of doing the cooking and feeding all the hungry brothers and sisters after the march. Special thank you to all the volunteers from our local who helped feed everyone!
Take a moment to reflect on what makes you proud to be a union member and remember: It’s Better In A Union!
